I’ve organized this site by the different areas in Manhattan, which are relevant to the Beat Generation.

A slideshow of landmarks is available in each area, followed by a brief write-up, including history, relevant Beat anecdotes, and my own personal reflections from tracing “Beat Footprints” in that area.

This website is part of an ongoing project to photograph and document Beat Generation landmarks in New York City, especially those significant to Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg and Neal Cassady.
